Car Warranty: What You Need To Know
Your Car Warranty: Independence from Your Dealer.
Factory warranties often come inundated with fine print particularities, leaving car owners overwhelmed and fearful of having car repair done elsewhere. However, to the relief of many San Antonio drivers, the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act ensures the ability of car owners to take their vehicle to an independent auto shop and have aftermarket installations without the risking the validity of their original factory warranty.
Factory, Extended, and Aftermarket Warranties
Of course at San Antonio’s Advanced Asian Auto, we want you to skip the high-priced dealership and have your vehicle serviced at our local, friendly shop. However, we want our San Antonio customers to be aware of certain auto warranty restrictions and limitations.
Factory Warranty (3 years, 30,000 miles)
Advanced Asian Auto cannot deliver “factory warranty repairs,” meaning any repair that is due to faulty auto parts from your original auto manufacturer. You must refer to your dealership for car repair service. Advanced Asian Auto can perform auto inspection, vehicle maintenance, and aftermarket additions to your vehicle, as well as non-warranty repairs.
Extended Warranty (after 30,000 miles)
This warranty can only be bought from the vehicle’s original manufacturer, requiring that car owners have their vehicle repairs done at the dealership. However, Advanced Asian Auto can perform auto inspection, vehicle maintenance, and aftermarket additions to your vehicle, as well as non-warranty repairs.
Aftermarket Warranty (after 30,000 miles)
This type of warranty is sold by an independent company and services select makes and models. It typically covers transmission, engine, and electrical repair–the company stipulates what will and will not be covered in the warranty. You may bring your vehicle to our Advanced Asian Auto shop and have our staff contact the aftermarket company to make a claim on the repair.
